Actress, entrepreneur, runner and advocate, Elaine Yiu carries many titles, but the through-line is always the same: authenticity, discipline and heart.

Known for her award-winning acting career, co-founding her jewellery brand DearBell2Ling, and her commitment to animal protection, Elaine is a rare balance of softness and strength.

In this exclusive fashion & personal branding interview, she opens up about confidence, style, entrepreneurship, and the power of simply being yourself.

Who She Is — Beyond the Screen

How would you describe yourself in three words?

Elaine: Kind, straightforward, determined.Once I make up my mind about something, I believe in myself and go for it.

Building Something of Her Own

The story behind her jewellery brand

Why did you start your own jewellery brand?

Elaine: One of my earholes is closed, so comfortable clip-on earrings were impossible to find. Most were big, heavy and painful after a few hours. So I started my own line.

With DearBell2Ling, we create small, lightweight, everyday clip-ons using sterling silver, beautiful, wearable and accessible. And a portion of every sale goes to charity, which matters a lot to me.

On First Impressions

From actress to entrepreneur

As an actress and entrepreneur, any tips on leaving a good first impression?

Elaine: Honestly, I’ve never tried to purposely leave a “good impression.”What matters is being well-mannered and polite to everyone you meet.

I believe in being yourself, not trying to become someone else.

Confidence, Hard Work & Craft

Are you a confident person?

Elaine: Surprisingly, I’m not naturally confident but I’m extremely hardworking.

If I get a role that involves fighting scenes or something new, I’ll practise until I feel ready. Confidence is vital as an actress, but for me, it comes from preparation, not personality.

Finding Balance in an Unsteady World

How did you deal with negativity, especially during COVID?

Elaine: I try to balance both positivity and negativity. Feel blessed, don’t take things for granted, and accept that negative moments help you appreciate good ones.

I also never compare myself with others — comparison is endless. There will always be someone “ahead” or “behind.”

Style Notes: Simple, Cool & True to Herself

How would you describe your personal style?

Elaine: Jeans, sneakers and a cap.I never wear dresses when I’m off-duty — I prefer tomboy-ish, casual and cool looks. For work, I love dressing up and putting effort into styling.

Heels or sneakers?

Elaine: Sneakers — always! Plus a backpack.
